6 is for bold, more dramatic line work and filling larger areas, but is also perfect for double dips and daisy type petals.

The number (1,2,3,4 etc, ) relates to the diameter where the bristles meet the ferrule. The higher the number, the bigger the diameter and the longer the bristles.
Size and numbering of rounds is pretty standard across the industry, so a number one should be very similar diameters no matter what the brand, however, the bristle length may vary slightly from brand to brand.
